Name: Crocodylus Porosus

Crocodiles are widely distributed in tropical areas of Africa, Asia and the Americas. Most species are now under threat. The Australian Saltwater Crocodile is the exception. 

Habitat:

Usually found in estuarine locations in the tropical areas of Australia, but also in parts  of South East Asia. 

Description:

The ‘Salty’ is the largest reptile in the world.  Males can reach 6 meters in length and live up to 100 years.

Status:

Since being protected by the Australian Government, the population has increased to the point that they now occasionally encroach on human populations. The species is now secure, but its range diminished especially in Asia.
