Spiders and their other invertebrate relatives, such as Scorpions, Ticks and Mites are grouped into a larger class called Arachnids. All Arachnids have in common, a head and thorax which is combined (Cephalothorax), 8 legs, no chewing mouth parts and no wings.
All spiders have fangs of two types. FUNNEL-WEBS and TARANTULAS strike vertically down. The more advanced form of fangs, as seen with HUNTSMAN, RED-BACK and KATIPO spiders, close their fangs towards each other when they strike. All spiders produce some type of silk.
Spiders are found everywhere. From the tropics to the arctic. Skylab 3 even took two into space.
